Course Overview

Welcome to Tableau Class 1 from the Tableau for Data Analytics course at Al-Meraj English Language & Computer Academy.

In this beginner-friendly class, we start with the basics of Tableau and learn how to get Tableau Desktop Free Edition ready for practical data analysis and visualization.

The class begins with an introduction to Tableau and its role in data analytics and visualization. You will then learn how to find and download Tableau Desktop Free Edition and open the application.

After setting up Tableau, the class moves into practical work. We connect an Excel workbook named PowerBI_Sales_Model.xlsx with Tableau and explore the available data tables, including dimensions and the main sales data table.

You will also see how Tableau’s Data Interpreter can be used when working with Excel data, how to review the available fields and records, and how to understand the structure of a connected data source before creating visualizations.

This class provides the foundation you need for the upcoming Tableau lessons, where we will move toward data types, calculated fields, sets, operators, visualizations, filters, and dashboards.
